Radio/cassette

Postby Harry B » Sat Mar 16, 2013 12:25 pm

My radio goes into mute and stays there for a while, then goes normal for awhile. The mute sign comes on when this happens.
Any ideas?
Thanks

1st guess is that your mute switch, or the wires from it, are shorting out somewhere along their path.
Keep the rubber side down.

Surely you can bypass it. If it were mine, I'd want to know where the problem was before I just cut wires off and such. Experience has shown me that handlebar mounted electronics are prone to develop wiring problems right at the steering head. For obvious reasons, all the wires from handlebar electronics are constantly twisting and/or rubbing against each other right in that area.
I suggest you turn the radio on and do a Wiggle Test right there where the wires exit the bars and transcend the space from pivoting bars to fixed frame/fairing. If there is a wiring issue, it is likely to be right there in that area, and you'll be able to hear the music mute out as you're jiggling those wires...then just narrow down the jiggling until you've isolated a more precise area, uncover the wires in that area, and fix the wire(s.)

Just my $0.02
