battery is dead,,,,,,,

Postby AWILLIAMS64 » Wed Mar 20, 2013 2:02 am

My 1998 gl1500se battery seems to have died. Although i have had it on a tender, i went to start it and it would barely turn over. I put a different charger on it, let it do a slow charge overnight, said it was charged but would barely light the headlight. I think the battery is done. I tried to do a search to see what a good replacement was but got tons of not related results. What is a good battery for the bike? i have not had to buy a bike battery in a few years, and even then it was for my 1965 superhawk so that was a different animal all together. I have seen the gel/agm batteries. I saw this one at advance auto i have a $30 off coupon so it would be around $70 http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp ... 16940006-p

AGM battery is the way to go. I've been using BigCrank Battery and it hasn't let me down. That one seems like a good deal for $70...jump on it!!

Agreed, AGM battery really is the way to go. I never put much faith in that, I figured AGM was just extra dollars down the drain, but now having had one, I'll never go back to anything else. An AGM and a Battery Tender, and you won't be buying another battery for many many years to come.

i had heard about the agm but never needed one. I think i will get the one from advance auto, I actually have a code for $40 off if you spend $100 so i will out in a gal of washer fluid or something to get it to $100 and get the battery for $60 plus tax. thanks for the input!

if anyone needs the code from advance its TRT41 . you just put that in the code box on the online ordering and it takes $40 off 100 order

I had that same problem. Went to start the bike and the battery was dead with the tender attached. Come to find out, the acid in 2 cells had dissipated somehow and killed those 2 cells. Sooo, I went and purchased that AGM sealed battery with 340cca from Advance Auto Parts and a new Deltran 1.25amp battery tender and haven't had a problem since. The sealed battery is definitely the way to go. You wont be disappointed.

So this is funny. I put in the code, and sure enough it takes the $40 off of the original $100 price, but then you add in the $10 core charge (there are no stores within 100 miles of my city) and the $14 for shipping, and I'm only actually saving $16 bucks. Plus I have to wait 2-4 weeks for delivery.

I think I'll check around locally for a better deal.

Thanks for the advice anyway, who knows, I may end up using it in the end. (My battery is still good)

i think if you get the order above $75 after coupon, shipping is free,,,order you an air filter for your car or something.
