94' Aspencade trunk

Postby hugger-4641 » Tue Apr 02, 2013 11:32 am

Anybody got a lower trunk for sale that would fit a '94 ? Mine is cracking and breaking around the mounting bolts. I have custom paint on my trunk, so I'm just looking for a good base that I can use to fix my trunk.

Or....just fix yours with some ABS glue and perhaps some ABS panels to overlay around the cracks/broken parts. Probably a lot cheaper, and likely stronger in the end.

That may be what I have to do, but if I can find a good base, it would probably be easier to replace the entire bottom and then reinforce it with fiberglass. It is cracked pretty bad on the left side, a couple small pieces have already come loose. It was probably already cracked and I didn't know it, but my 6 yr old nephew climbing on top of the trunk rack probably did most the damage. :x

Fiberglass is not the way to go. It will not bond well to the ABS, and will eventually break free and crack. Using ABS panel and ABS glue will cause the panel to become a part of the existing trunk plastic. It is permanently bonded, instead of gluing in place.
