ELectrical Snafus on a 1500, 1988 Goldwing

Post by Gold69Wing » Wed Apr 07, 2010 11:19 pm

Recently obtained an 1500 with low mileage on it and overall in very good condition. I have two frustrations with this otherwise excellent machine.
The cruise control worked at one time according to the owner. Having a good electrical background, I can pry off covers and using a digital multimeter troubleshoot potential issues. Does anyone know the availability of a color electrical schematic to ease the troubleshooting process? I spoke with the local Honda dealership and they are not aware of a color schematic series for the 1500.
The other headache that will require troubleshooting is the air pump system. Looks like it is time to remove some covers and start digging around with the multimeter.
If there are common headaches associated with either scenario, any words of wisdom or ideas would be sincerely appreciated.
Thank you for potential help and wisdom,
Doug

You really need to use the electrical troubleshooting manual for the 1500 and above. The electrical systems are so immense and complex, I don't know that there is a single schematic that covers all of it - they're broken down into separate systems.
