no headlights GL1500 SE, year 2000

Postby Jwing » Wed Apr 10, 2013 12:57 am

Hello,
That the engine is underway or not, the lighthouse(headlight) of road does not ignite, GL1500, year 2000.

Bulbs are OK, or is the problem? Is it a relay?
If yes, which one?

Thank you for your help(assistant),
Jean

The headlights are operated by 2 relays, one for high beam and one for low beam....The hi/lo switch operates them....The hi/lo switch gets it's power from the "start" button....
Remember the headlight cuts off when cranking the bike????
I'd start at the "start" button....Wiggle it a bit..push it in and out a few times....Spray some contact cleaner in there....Check for volts on the wiring....There's manuals for that in the download section.

you may also want to check the 5th fuse down (15amp), located behind the left side panel below the seat. 8-)
Ride safe, Todd

Check that the start button is not stuck half way in. If so it will cut off headlamps.
