Clearance Question

Postby WingT » Thu Apr 11, 2013 12:42 pm

First of all, contineued thanks to wingadmin for the timing belt DIY and all the great pics. I followed this recently to replace the t-belts on my '97 SE
and everything went great. Just one question though, I seem to have little or no clearance between the rad. hose and the grill piece out in front of the rad hoses. I pretty suer I have thing together correctly, but the hose especially on the LH side is hitting the backside of those fins.
Any Thoughts ?

Any chance you can take a picture of yours, so we can see where the hose interference is happening?

Yea, Isn't that avatar just the coolest rendering of a 1500 ? If you want me to change it I will. Didn't mean to upset anyone... it IS the wrong
color! anyway I just thought it was neat.

Finally finished up the rear half of the bike last weekend. Had it put together from moly'ing the rear drive splines then ran across the video on the forum on greasing the rear end. Suddenly, I realized I need to take apart the joint at the rear of the driveshaft that I looked at and thought at the time it wasn't suppose to come apart. DUH. Well the video showed it coming apart quite easily.
So, I went back and took her apart one more time. By lifting bags and all, wasn't any easier than taking the bags off in my opinion, when it come time to bolt her back together, anyway ALL pasted up and ready to go!

Well Back to the tight clearance thing, I was able to take a few pic's and I hope they're clear enough, I just question where I have the heater hose and don't remember exactly how it was positioned. But I seemed to he some interference when I put the front back on.
Take a look....

Well it is kinda like part of my identity so if you would;t mind changing it I would appreciate it. However I don't own any copyright and I can't come over an choke you so I suppose I can't force the issue.

I had the same problem with the chrome replacement cowl cover. I took a Dremel to the back of the cover and shaved a bit of the part of the fin that is already shaped to fit around the hose.
They sure make them a tight fit, It is not easy to get it high enough to get the center screw in, and the gap between the top of the cowl cover and the engine cover seems too wide. I seem to have not much more than 1mm clearance of the horns too :D

If at first you don't succeed, hide the evidence.
