2000 reverse

Took my 2000 1500 se bike out of storage,started right up,but when i tried to revese with the start button it killed the bike,Bike starts and runs great only dies while trying to reverse,Any ideas on where to start trouble shooting or what to look for,Worked fine last time i rode the bike

I had the same problem. I had to bump up the idle with the choke a little bit before using the reverse. Turns out my alternator wasn't providing enough amps to power everything. I eventually changed it to a Compufire unit and a gel cell battery and have not had that problem since. Do you still have the stock alternator on the bike?

yes it is still oem alternator,and I opened the throttle up while trying to back up also,but it still killed the motor I`ll check voltage

Installed a new volt meter,reading 14.2voltsHappened to notice reverse cable was off when I was checking oil,don`t know how it came off,bur put it on and vola reverse is back
