Discs for front brake G/W 1988 1500/6

Postby Kiwi2 » Sun May 05, 2013 5:04 am

The front discs on my GoldWing need replacing. Anyone have any ideas where I can get replacements without increasing the New Zealand national debt by too much.

And while In have your undivided attention, the rear brake on my Wing also needs adjustment. I have checked the hydraulic oil and it is at the required level and the rear brake pads have plenty of meat. I believe that there is an adjustment near the rear foot brake that I can adjust to take up some of the travel in the lever, but for the life of me I cannot find it.

Any and all help greatly received.

I replaced mine about three years ago with a set I found on eBay. They were new and a sweet deal, about $200 USD. Rear might also be available from someone that has triked their 1500. Also eBay. Good luck!

Chances are the brakes need to be bled. Keeping in mind the foot pedal operates the rear and left front.

+1 on the bleeding. Maybe replace the fluid entirely. Get yourself a set of speed bleeders and you should be set.

I obtained a set of discs (two front and one rear) from Australia. What it cost me for the three and freight I would not have been able to buy two here in New Zealand, and they will be here within a week. Where as I would have been waiting for at least 2 months had I ordered them here.(NZ).

I will let you guys know wen they arrive and how easy to fit, and yes I know I will need new pads. :D :D :D
