Postby trj827 » Sun May 12, 2013 4:07 pm

I'm trying to install some front speakers and got everything apart but can't remove the dash because the ignition switch cover /fairing won't let me . How do I remove it.

This will get you to where you can access your front speakers.

Thanks....however I was following that post until I got to the point of removing the fairing and such and that article or post does not address that. What I did find however by looking at some youtube video's that some folks removed the seat to access some bolts at the bottom of the fairing that allowed be to raise it up and shimmy the dash cover out. All I wanted to do was take the cover off to access the speakers ....not the whole dash..................

This is on a 1500, right?
You have a 1200 listed in your avatar. :?:
On a 1500, you need to remove the dash in order to get to the speakers. You can not get to them through the grills or else you will break the grills.

OK ... rereading this I have come to the conclusion you are totally unfamiliar with the basic steps of removing the ignition bridge. (and most likely a lot of the Tupperware)

Pictorials are quicker and easier to understand than the written word.

Start off doing this to remove the inner covers.
Then remove your keys from the ignition and remove the ignition bridge by following step 7, HERE then move on to the other steps outlined in previous post for removing parts/Tupperware to get at the speakers

Does that help solve your issue?

Thanks Dusty......I wish I saw that picture last night of how EASY that cover pops up....lol I wound up taking the seat off, two screws at the bottom of the fairing just to slide it out of a tiny space. Thanks for taking the time to post that reply....now to make the speakers fit ......since the holes on the Polk D501's don't line out with the openings hole surgery will be required to make them fit.
