GL 1500 cruise control

Postby nateshropshire » Mon May 20, 2013 11:12 am

Can anyone tell me all of the parts that would be needed to install a cruise control on a 1994 GL 1500 Interstate? It did not come from the factory with a cruise control. Is this more trouble that it is worth? Any helpful comments will be appreciated. Thanks, Nate

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Some have installed an after-market unit. I'm not sure what the brand is.
A cheap alternative is a paddle on the throttle grip.

Thanks for the reply. I do have a throttle lock on it as well as what is called a throttle boss for the Kuryakyn grips. I think that is similar to the paddle you mentioned. I was just wondering if it would be worth trying to piece all of the parts together to make it work or if there is an aftermarket alternative.

What you have is the same as the paddle.
There is no way to retrofit the oem unit, but there is an after-market set up from Audiovox and one from Rostra that I have located through a search.

"It´s a friggen motorcycle, it´s not supposed to be comfortable, quiet or safe. The wind noise is supposed to hurt your ears, the seat should be hard and riding it should make you s**t your pants every now and then. "
