Pop off the right side covers and inspect the reverse cables and levers....Hopefully it's just setting in between start and reverse

Ok removed starter this morning it all looked good until i looked inside the starter idle gear had three broken teeth so i guess that's an engine pull to get rear case of an retrieve broken parts my next question is what is out of sync to make this happen.or what is the cause/failure to create this problem.

It's quite possible that could have happened out of normal wear and tear, but if the timing belts are old and skipped a cog causing a backfire as the starter was engaged then that would be your reason. And the backfire doesn't have to be a big bang, you said you heard a poof which is all that is needed. Good luck.

I am really sorry something like this had to happen to you when it rarely happens at all to anybody. I don't know if someone else knew about it and unloaded the bike on you or if it was just dumb luck. One good way to look at it is you are learning a lot about your ride and will be better educated then a lot of other riders. Good luck.
