Over heating 1500 se

Postby whitewinger » Thu Apr 15, 2010 12:51 pm

Hi I am presently experiencing over heating problems at low speed in traffic, when running normally the gauge registers cool temp (below normal reading) and as soon as I hit traffic it starts to over heat an it spills water from the rad overflow

Any suggestions ??

Are the fans turning on? If not I suspect a bad sensor for the fans.. If the fans are coming on and it still overheats then I would suspect a bad water pump..

Or you could have scale/blockage in the radiator that is restricting coolant flow.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your input I have had a few minutes to my self and tested the fan thermal s/w and its not making contact thus the fans are not coming on problem solved!!!

I thought it may be something to do with stats as it has been dormant during the winter months and working OK when it was stored and its the first bit to fail in 12 years of ownership, I can now start enjoying the pleasure of riding again.

Kind regards from the UK

Whilst the thermostatic switches are not cheap, it's good to hear it was something so simple.. Does it actually get hot enough in the UK for anything to overheat?? :D I left the UK 25 years ago when I was 20!! Still no desire to move back to live, but love visiting occasionally..
Enjoy the bike..

Hi Gary,
I must admit that most of my riding is done in France and Spain as I am Spanish and I return to my roots at the drop of a hat, as a believer that the bike should be enjoyed and not endured ....lol

Hi Juan,

I was born in England and moved to the south of France when I was 23 (22 years ago now!) and absolutley loved it there. Moved to the USA 5 years ago and am very happy here too, still miss France (not England!) and loved to visit Italy and spain whenever I could!!

Have fun

Gary
