Alternator from car to use on a 1500

Postby Dpope » Wed Jun 05, 2013 7:24 pm

I remember reading about this somewhere that there is a car alternator that can be used on a 1500, you only have to replace the end that mounts to the engine from an old 1500 unit and the car alternator works just great. Has anyone else read anything on this, if so could you point me in the right direction? Need to make a spare for myself and friends to get out of a bad spot.

Fairly certain it is a GM alternator. Found this.

Thanks for the Info, going to the auto salvage yard next week looking for this unit to try it out. Will post the results when done. I already have the Compufire on my 1500, but have two extra orignal Honda alternators for parts. I would only put this on a bike that has a compufire already and that has went bad.
