GL1500 Timing Belts on sale!

Postby uoba » Mon Jun 10, 2013 8:51 am

Someone may have already mentioned this. If so, I apologize for the duplication.

Amazon.com has Gates T275 Timing Belts on sale right now for $16.49 each. You can buy a pair for $32.98 and the shipping is free. These are the REAL DEAL, and the ones I use on my GL1500. Some of us may want to pick up a couple.

Cheers!

Uoba
Changing those belts is a piece of cake if you stick to the photo description on this site. I did mine a week or three ago and unfortunetly switched the number 2 and nr 4 plugwires on replacing. It got me all mixed up and I thought I had the timing wrong. Real easy. I have 1995 Aspc.

Rock Auto sells them for $14.83 but I believe shipping is extra.

But if you are ordering from Rock Auto anyway …...

This is great to know. I'll pick up a couple at NAPA soon. I only just read that the timing belts were so important and so I'm planning on doing mine this week.

Thanks again for the info.

Hmm ...... the 1st time I changed the belts on my 1500 (April 2009) I got my belts from the Napa dealer on Oroville, WA. He only had 1 in stock and they were $28.xx each.

I get mine from Amazon dot com now

RockAuto, a site sponsor, still has the best price on these belts @ $14.20. Where Amazon wins is in the shipping. I bought mine from RockAuto and stocked up my oil filter cupboard for the vehicles and bikes at the same time.

Got the good deal on the belts from Amazon. Does anybody know where there is a good deal on the belt cover gaskets? My local stealer up here in Ontario is on crack re his $$$$ for them.

Unless you butchered/tore them when removing the covers, they should be reusable. ;)

Mine (on both GL1100 and GL1500) were stuck to the cover/engine/both, and tore when the covers were removed, so I replaced them. On the 1500, it had been installed incorrectly, and had folded over in one spot.

Hmm ... my bike was 17 yrs old when I 1st took them off and they came off alright. Just pulled them out of the channels in the covers and cleaned them up with some WD40 and reinstalled them.

This will give you an idea of the price of them state side.
You need items number 2 and 4 from here, so it looks like a total of $35.07 (plus shipping)

What did your dealer quote you, Rotti ??
