Goldwing seems to be bucking

Postby par4ugolf » Fri Jun 21, 2013 6:51 pm

Riding down the road my GL1500 Se seems to be bucking and really shows up between 25 and 40 mph. Acceleration seems to be fine and I only get this problem when I am maintaining an even speed. I think it is a gas problem but not sure how to tell if it is gas or possibly electrical, spark. Idle is ok and as I stated acceleration seems to be ok also.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

start simple, try a tank or two with sea foam..if it clears up.. 8-) , check for bucking related to rpm's not speed as rpm's(speed) increases harder for coils to keep up if weak...try running in different gears at 35mph any difference??? if yes = electrical maybe..???
HAD LOTS OF GOLDWING 75-83
NOW INTO 1500'S..RIDING A 1998 SE

FAIR WINDS,

Never heard of Sea Foam. Where would I get this?

Most likely carb related. Remove top shelter and take for a ride sliding cardboard a little at a time in front of air intake. Any change for the better fuel problem confirmed. What are you getting for fuel mileage and is your ride well maintained with regular filter and plug changes?

Running at different RPM's makes no difference. Got the Sea Foam and I am running through the first tank now. No difference yet.

Ran 35 in different gears with no noticeable difference. Not very noticeable when accelerating unless it is being done at a slow rate of acceleration.

Haven't checked my fuel mileage yet this spring as I usually wait till I have run a few tankfuls through it to get all the old stuff out. I suspect I am running around 35 to 40mpg right now. Normally I get around 43 to 45 out of it.
