ELECTRONICS MOUNT

Postby USMC5953 » Mon Jun 24, 2013 12:21 pm

This may be the most ignorant post but I have to ask. Has any one ever thought of a mount that would go from one handle bar to the other. It would go straight across and would not obstruct the veiw of the guages. If it was done right I think it would work and allow a beter field of view. I have not really thought it out but if you have rubber mounts that would go where the normal mounts would go on the two screws at each control, then a thin flat bar would connect them and allow for at least 4 or 5 mounts. Ok now is the time I get hammered for my thought process.

I have seen what you are asking for ... but don't remember where I saw it. It mounted to the handle bar control screws and went between the bars. It then allowed you to mount multiple devices. Not sure what it did to instrument visibility however. Personally I use RAM mounts for my GPS on the right controls....what else are you using that needs to be mounted?

I jumped the gun on this one. I found pretty much what I was looking for on wingstuf. they have a mount that places a round tube the size of most handle bars between yours. I know I need a mount for a GPS, Phone, and mp3 player, sat radio and well a cup holder. My phone is a samsung note 2 which will not work with the radio aux mod, which is sad because it could have been my mp3 player,GPS and phone. The aux mod does work with my itouch and sat radio though so I know I did it correctly. plus from the photo on wingstuff it seems that when a GPS is mounted in the center you have a better view than on the left or right, that is what I am guessing any way. It is a next year over the winter type of purchase anyway. I bought the bike this year so everything is new to me and I am just researching how to upgrade this winter. plus the mounts that go on regular handle bars are cheaper than the ones that mount to the 2 screws on the controls. I am now researching usb power outlets. I have learned that not all are the same meaning that the current supplied is not the same, some give you 500m amp and some a full amp which some of the smart phones require to get a good charge. Also I am trying to research a way to get rid of the noise on my itough and sat radio when they are hooked up to my dc power. When the itouch is not charging I do not have any alternator noise. Thank you very much for your reply.

Make sure you contact LittleBeaver about this, especially if you are not in an immediate hurry. He would probably think up a solution and build you one. The only downside is that he is probably in the process of moving house, so could be a bit distracted at the moment. But have fun, anyway.
