Alternator wiring help

Postby cquestguy » Sat Jun 29, 2013 4:10 pm

I am having trouble with my charging system on my 95 1500. Took alternator off and wires were off the back and burned. I understand where everything goes except one. There was no wire going to one of the terminals on the white plug on the back of the alternator. I think this is the tickle wire that sends 12 volts to excite the alternator but am not sure. Can anyone help me with this.?

Never mind. Relied on my tech of automobiles and I was correct. Second wire in plug went to the battery post of the alternator and excites it to charge. Started it up and gauge went op to 14 volts then dropped down and fluctuated between 12.5 and 13.5 volts. Thanks anyway!
