The bulbs are standard 194 blubs...but to replace then you have to open up the lense to replace them...if you go that far..replace them with LED strips..more light, less heat, less current draw. I replaced mine with LED strips and it is much brighter... notice the difference between the trunk light and saddlebag lights...

Thank you so much Wingpilot, if you don't mind me asking where you got the light strips and what size are they? Thanks.

The best place I found for the LED strips are at http://www.meritline.com

http://www.meritline.com/waterproof-led-strips-red-16-feet---p-72360.aspx

I have used these on my Wing with great results. Best thing is the price is better than superbrightleds.com The roll of LED's can be cut to size and one roll is 16.4 feet in length...enough to do two strips in each saddlebag light and one or two in each trunk side light..and still have leftovers! Everynow and then the price will drop to $19.99.

Most important is to be sure to have the SAME color LED as the color of the lense...saddlebag lens is red so use red LED's. If you choose to do amber lense..use an amber LED!

Here is a link to photos to show what I have changed to LED so far on my wing....http://s628.photobucket.com/user/wingpilot96/slideshow/Bike%20Lights

On the handlebar controls..I used 3mm Blue componet LED with a 560 ohm resistor...that replaced the "grain of wheat" bulbs that were originally installed on the Wing.

The speedo & tach lights are also LED replaced with LED's from superbrightled.com they have a good assortment of 194 style LED's in different colors...

From another GW site...this is a good description on how to replace the saddlebag lights, handlebar controls and dash lights...
http://goldwingdocs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=11057 saddlebag lights

http://goldwingdocs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=9667 Handlebar controls

http://goldwingdocs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=10998 Dash lights. In this description, he talks about removing the windshield..this is not really necessary to do. Hardest part is removing the two air vent without breaking them..just be patient!!

Sorry if this is too much info..but it gives you a couple of projects to play with...Any other question..just drop a line back..

Yes, we are fairly close, but I'm about to move back to Alabama where I was raised. But it'll be around Arab,Al. so that's still close.I only moved up here about 8 years ago when I married my wife, but she passed away in May, so I will get back where both my son's and other family are. Thanks again for the info from everyone, and I have one more question,I noticed someone had their turn signals hooked up to the saddlebag side lights where they were run and turn lights. If you use the light strips will they work for running lights and turn signals ?Or do you run separate light strips?

I have on my Wing the wiring kit for the Trunk ( not saddlebag) that makes the lights flash with the turn signals. Changing over to LEDs did not require any additional changes. My front fairing marker (on the fairing sides) also work with the turn signals...
