cracked trunk lid

Post by Gordwing » Thu Jul 11, 2013 1:00 pm

Hello fellow goldwingers. last summer I carried to much luggage on my trunk racks and didn't notice the cracks coming from the holes under the chrome washers where the rack is bolted on.
Have you seen any chrome rack plates that are made for under the rack as opposed to the 1" washers. I now have a trailer but would like to repair and hide these cracks.

Rudy over at the Saunders site has a reinforcement kit for this. It won't seal the cracks but will allow you to use the rack again. I have seen stainless plates for the top side but I can't find a source.

Rudy's is shut down for a little while. If you want to try the DIY method I used, you can have a look here: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=690
