New bike in the stable

Postby Wingsconsin » Wed Aug 28, 2013 4:11 pm

My 19 years old son recently sold his 1980 GL1100 Interstate that we have worked long and hard on to get going perfectly..
The new owner is now a very lucky man as all he ahs to do is ride it...

But we replaced it with a nice new-to-him 1992 GL1500....
This is a picture from the previous owner -- but it is now ours (his)

To own a nice 'Wing like this at 19..? talk about lucky...

It is a nice bike to have at 19, but I am surprised he wanted one at 19! When I was 19 all I wanted was a crotch rocket (GSXR, R1, CBR, etc ) and would still like to have one now, but the wing is far more comfortable..

Guess its a sign I am getting old!!

at 19 for me, it was vtwin magic and leather....yup, that was it. Welcome to the 80s, and I did not get my first touring ride until 27ish....hmmm.

Congrats congrats!!!

My first bike EVER last year at 57. A 96 interstate. If money allows sometime in the future, might move up to a 1800. But for now, I'm loving my 1500 to the fullest. At 19, chances are he'll move to an 1800 too. Congrats, young blood.

I talked to him about the Vtwins adn crotch rocket bikes ouot there and IF he wanted one of those....

He told me he had ridden some of his buddies bikes and while they were fun...he was spoiled by the great riding Goldwing platform...

Here is the bike he sold...

Smart young man, he knew what he wanted. I screwed up and traded my 84 off for a Road King, worst mistake I ever made, because the guy's I was riding around with were on them. Took me 2 years to wake up and get my but back on a wing, finally found me a 91 Aspencade, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Devoted Wing owner, and not ever going anywhere ever again.

I always get an itch for a vtwin....but then happy that my inline 6 is running as smooth as can be. Hmmmm, image, or comfortability....must be getting old(er).
