GL 1500 Speedometer cable

Post by CaptSny » Tue Apr 27, 2010 6:40 am

I lost the use of my speedometer recently and I am trying to figure how to check the sending unit to see if that is the problem. Any suggestions?

I'm looking at the 1994 manual, and it shows a mechanical speedometer cable. If that's the case on your bike, disconnect the speedometer cable at the upper end, and rotate the front wheel, to see if the upper end of the cable turns. If not, then the problem is either the speedometer gearbox or the cable - usually the cable. If it is turning, then the problem is up in the speedometer at some point.
