92' 1500 Aspy Fuel Pump Run On and Highway Surge fix

Postby Longhaultrucker » Wed Aug 28, 2013 8:33 pm

The other weekend went for a ride and when I put the bike away noticed the fuel pump was still running after the ignition was turned off. Reading several other posts on the fuel pump decided to check the fuel cap for sucction when it was removed. Low and behold it wooshed and the fuel pump stopped running. Curiuos to repeat the fallure, started the bike let it run for a few minutes, then shut it down again. Same result of the fuel pump continuing to run. Loosened the fuel cap, got the woosh, and the pump stopped. Several threads discussed that one fix could be a stuck (nonventing) fuel cap. So I soaked the cap in Seafoam, reassembled the cap and vent hose, and went for a ride. Got home, shut off the bike and noticed NO fuel pump continuing to run. Also checked for the vacuum woosh and it was not present. So problem fixed, hopefully! Thanks to all the EXPERTS on this site for the great technical advise!

Don't understand how it posted that many times. Only entered one post. Sorry for the confusion.
