Heat coming of the engine

Post by Eddie5569 » Mon Sep 02, 2013 9:44 am

I just bought a 1996 gold wing. I did not notice the heat coming off the engine but the last 2 times I have rode the heat has been unbearable. The temp gage Indicates the water is normal. Could I be having problems with my water pump.

Probably not.
Look at the little levers next to the lower vents.Theres a "H" and a "C" marked there .
Open the vent and look into it.Be sure the lever opens and closes the inside flapper. It routes either engine heat or outside air to the vent. Both of mine were misaligned and stuck on heat.
Don't forget, this is a 6 cylinder water cooled engine that runs happy at 185*
