Swing Arm

I have a 1999 1500 SE with 136000 miles that has always had oil changed every 5000 & the rear end fluid changed every 25000 miles. I have heard from a couple of 1500 owners of the spine on the swing arm shaft propeller going bad. (crumble apart) When should a new shaft propeller and joint yoke be replaced so that I don't get caught on a long trip and the vibrations start indicating that the spine is failing as others have said? Can someone who has a high mileage 1500 Goldwing enlighten me?

That spline should be lubricated just like the splines on the final drive. As long as it has been properly lubricated with Moly 60, it should last (pretty much) the life of the bike.
