2k 1500 how to change a rear rotor??

I know how to get to the rear wheel but what is involved in replacing the rotor...

You have to remove the rear wheel, then the rotor bolts onto the wheel with six bolts. when reinstalling it, tighten the bolts in a star pattern, to 29 ft-lb. Look at How to remove and reinstall your rear wheel - under the "Reinstalling the wheel" section, the first two steps. Keep in mind, that tutorial is for the GL1100, so the bolts are torqued to 29 ft-lb, not the 22 ft-lb used by the GL1100.
