1988 GL 1500 side covers

Postby Alpmas » Fri Nov 01, 2013 7:53 am

I lost my right side battery cover and can't find a replacment. I've tried local wreckers with no luck
and contacted an aftermarket supplier in California who makes replacments but says the fuse block on my wing will get in the way of their cover which fits mostly later model GL1500? Honda wants nearly $400 for a new OE cover which I refuse to purchase.
Any ideas?

Since we're heading in to that dreaded "off season" I'd spend some time checking e-bay. You'll likely find a number of them there. And, if you're patient, you may even find one the same color as yours. Good luck.

Ebay is an option. Your covers should be the same as mine and last I checked a new one cost $250 through Hondaparts or cheapcycle parts but thats still a lot. Im debating whether id like to replace one of my covers that had a boot scratch when I bought it. I've seen then on fleabay for $160 for ok condition.

Unfortunately they are expensive. My right side cover was stolen in a Wal*Mart parking lot and it cost me $250 to replace it. I bought it from BikeBandit in the original color and also ordered the emblems.

Thats amazingly sucks. I never thought something like that could happen. Oh also Cyclemax is another source.

Thanks Wing Admin, looks like my best option so far. The left side cover has blown off before and I epoxied the locator tabs back on but who knows I may need a spare cover for the left side so ordering both sides makes sense. Anybody have any experince installing Cyclemax covers ?
