Trunk rack

Postby chnaeyd » Sat Nov 02, 2013 8:38 am

I Replaced my '96 SE trunk lid with one off of a 1999. Rack has rust spots in some of the welds and want to replace it. My dilemma is that I have two almost like new racks but both of them have different leg spacings. Don't want to re-drill holes. The '99 rack is completely different from these two. For one, the holes are almost even with the bottom of the chrome strip at the top of the rack. The bars of the rack also run east to west instead of the usual north to south. If anyone can help identify which mfg of this rack is, maybe I can get a replacement. Below is a pic of the one I got from Ebay. Any help would be appreciated.

That certainly is a different rack.

Have you considered getting the one you have re-plated??

I haven't replated any of the other racks. They are new. Don't want to drill new holes either.

I was talking about re-plating the rack that has the rust spots.

I had the same style luggage rack on my 1500 trike and it too was rusted in places, I had it powder coated in black to match the trike and the star washers also.
