Carb leaking gas, 1999 Goldwing SE 1500

Postby dannymailman » Tue Nov 26, 2013 10:07 am

I rebuilt carbs on 1999 1500 but when I crank it up with choke on no problem but when I turn off choke gas will come out of overflow hose under bike, I can drive it down road and it will stop and not leak until it has sit up a few days, any idea what is wrong?

Improper float height adjustment or defective float valves. Check to be sure gas is not from tank fill overflow tray as you do not specify which hose is leaking the fuel. Float bowl drains are either open or closed and would not leak intermittently.

ct has something worth checking but check your tank vent cause reverse pressure can continue to push gas thru the system while its sitting...Sounds simple but possible, happened to me...If it was the float adj is would leak out on idle not 2-3 days after sitting, thats the puzzling part.
