Cdi part #s ?

Postby Melloreel » Mon Dec 09, 2013 6:29 am

Trying to order cdi for my 92 but all the used ones have different designations than mine? I can't find anything from Honda that shows the numbers? Mine has the letters MY4-583E. Most I have seen MAF-583etc.. Anyone know if they are interchangeable?
Thanks. Wanna order today!!

there are diffs between years on some elec. parts 88-89, 90-94/5 and 96-2000..stick with your year span. check a dealers parts list they can tell which years are the same..or do it yourself by scanning the online parts lists at most dealer sites.

for one

More info...if it helps identify...This one supposedly came from a 93.bb

I worked on it for a failed fuel pump switching transistor...viewtopic.php?t=14339&p=72714

In the one I repaired,I noticed but did not confirm, that there are 3@ 2SD1071 transistors that drive the coils...
They should be the final handshake to the coils....Punch in the number at E-Bay....

Maybe it's possible that part of the transistor array has failed(if your's is the same). There cheap and not hard to replace..

Thanks for the info! I have tried checking the parts list, but I can't find anything on the igniter? Looked at electrical etc... But don't see a part#?

Hey Virgil I ordered the unit yesterday, but wasn't home when it came today. Not same part number, but I will let you know after 4 when I can pick it up from post office. Just hope that's the fix?
Thanks.
Oh-where did you find the screen shot of ecu wiring?

Everything I find comes from the manuals section on this site...Not all years are available but I'm confident a 93 is similar to the 92....They did have some minor changes so it's a best guess from the stuff I can find.

I found the ECU listed with the fuel tank of all places...It's not in any electrical parts list I could find online.
From a initial look see,the coils are attached in the same place...93 and 98 models...I'd have to research the other connections for discrepancies...Even the 98 schematic shows one print with a ground wire at the same location as a coil wire on the next page...

At another glance, the pinout seems different between the interstate and the aspy/se models too...

Ok. Got the new/used igniter. Everything seems fine, have fire on all cylinders, and the fans started working which didn't before? Im not familiar with this bike so didn't know. But now bike is idling at 2000 rpm very high. Maybe the carbs need adjusting down, as I don't know what previous owner did about skip. Waiting on manual from eBay then I will look further.
Virgil do you think the igniter would make it idle so high???
Going to try and find what model bike this came off?

It won't go any lower with knob? Thinking some type of adjustment in carbs?
The new # is MAF-583F-6Z31U
Original on bike was MY4-583E-1522U
Trying to find what year it may have come from. Looking now!
Thanks

It may need several turns.its attached to a threaded bolt.the throttle may need to be rolled back.It can keep it stuck open.
