Postby ur1stservices » Mon Dec 09, 2013 1:59 pm

Have 96 SE and have in garage @ 40 deg. and won't start. When warmer it will start. Ran and started great all fall. Are there any sensors or something else temp sensitive? thanks a bunch

Do you keep it on a battery tender?
The 1500 really likes a great battery.

I have to agree on lots of battery.Another thing you could do is give the throttle a few twists before you crank it over. This will pump a bit of extra fuel into it to start but probably won't help much if it's turning over slow.
If I'da known it would last this long,I'da taken better care of it.

Why are you trying to start it anyway. Going riding at that temperature?

As others have said - battery. If you have a LOOSE car battery that you can connect with jumpers give that a try. That's how I start my bikes after winter hibernation.
"It´s a friggen motorcycle, it´s not supposed to be comfortable, quiet or safe. The wind noise is supposed to hurt your ears, the seat should be hard and riding it should make you s**t your pants every now and then. "

Forgot to add:

When testing battery always check charging system also. A load test is applied to battery for checking. A battery that loses its state of charge (volts) after sitting idle for a few days is another area of concern.

If you think there's no spark, prove it.
Pull one plug wire and attach a spare plug, crank it and look.
