Clutch master cylinder rebuild?

Postby Melloreel » Tue Jan 07, 2014 4:04 pm

Just got the factory piston set from Honda, now wondering if it requires any special tools, or tricks to do? Can't find any info on how to?
Looks simple enough. Any thoughts?

Just some basics...Do not use brake cleaner around the rubber...
Protect all areas from dripping brake fluid...It can eat paint.
Remove the inside snap ring to release the piston and tap the MC gently to get it out.
Everything must be spotless clean.
Clean the tiny pressure relief port.
Pre test fit the piston before putting on the new rubber and spring, check for binding on full stroke.
Clean the MC bore..Polish only if necessary...Leave no marks in the bore.
Lube with brake fluid on assembly.
Fill and hand prime the MC before you put it back on the bike.
Leave the line a bit loose, slowly squeeze the handle to remove any air then tighten it up.

And before all this.....read through this "HOW TO"...viewtopic.php?f=11&t=46
