Gl 1500 Collector box

Postby Huntersbane » Sat Feb 01, 2014 4:57 am

Help......

How the Hell do I get a Rusted Collector box off my GL1500.

I have the bike chocked up and disengaged the Center stand back wheel loose and pulled toward the rear of the bike.
Silencers off. and downpipe clamps removed. and Still wont come off. Am I missing a Bolt Fixing or something....

This is my Second weekend at trying to get it off. The New Motad collector box has no other fixings than the downpipe, silencers and Center Stand bolt holes. so at the Moment Im Stuck.

Heeellllllppppppp

Because the header pipes are angled into the box on each side requires removal of a header (right side is easiest).

There is then a mounting bolt on top of box which also needs to be removed. It would be a wise idea to replace both header to box gaskets and the one header to head seals.
This is what I do
