1991 'Wing main wiring loom interchange.

Postby Firea100 » Fri Feb 28, 2014 10:25 am

Hi, to all on the site. I purchased a 1991 Goldwing Aspencade off of another member from this site. I need to replace the main wiring loom, it's burnt and I don't want to repair it. I'm looking for a good 1991 loom but haven't had a great deal of luck finding a complete one that hasn't been butched or chopped on. I know that there is only the one part number for it. My question is: are there any other looms that will interchange with the 1991??
Thanks,
Larry in East China Mi.

I wish I could help you in more detail but I have a similar problem on two of my other Wings I picked up, wiring loom chopped to pieces.
They are an 81 and an 84.

But here is what I just found out last night, I have a 95 Aspencade, I bought a sizable amount of body parts from a wrecked 98SE last year, I have been installing these and other parts that only an SE would have. I bought a brand new 98 RH illuminated control as an SE replacement, my 95A did not have illuminated handlebar controls before. The bikes chassis plugs are the same but they did not have just the two feed wires for illuminated controls, I worked around that and they now work.

What I am getting at is this, if I needed any harness I would get the more options high end one such as the SE version, better to have the extra plugs for accessories than none at all. Just my .02

That makes sense to me. Was the SE a fuel injected bike?

No, none of the GL1500's were fuel injected. The SE was the "all accessories included" bike - lighted handlebars, CB, four speakers, and so on. So if you get an SE loom, even if you don't have some of the accessories, you'll still have the wiring in place in case you want to add them in the future.

Thank You Wingadmin for the input. That's what I'm now leaning towards.
