Turn signal cancel with no radio

Postby gbearth » Fri Mar 21, 2014 4:23 pm

Hi again Wing, on the subject of auto cancellation of the turn signal I have totally removed the radio unit from my 1500. When I took it out on the road the turn indicators do not auto cancel they work ok manually. The radio will not be returned, is this the reason for the non-auto function, if yes is there a fix. Appreciate this is a tall order, but if anyone has an answer you will :-)

There is a connection between the two - in that the dash speedometer generates a speed pulse. This pulse is fed to both the turn signal canceler, as well as the radio (so it can adjust volume based on speed). Looking at the schematic, it's not obvious that removing the radio should affect the turn canceler - perhaps the canceler expects the radio to be loading down that signal somewhat? I'm not sure. That would be my guess, anyway.
