Re: CB Radio Void Ideas?
Not sure about the options in '88, but if there was an option to not have a CB radio, then there should have been a plastic cover.
I have a '92 Interstate that did not have a CB and I have a blank panel on the LH side. Perhaps a '9_ without the CB?
I looked up the panel number for the '92 and it's:
83149-MN5-000ZN PANEL, L. *R176C* - A/I
83149-MN5-000ZP PANEL, L. *PB240M* - A/I
83149-MN5-000ZR PANEL, L. *B134M* - SE'92
Not sure what the three options are (colors?). But,it's a start. Hope it helps you.

I recall seeing a Gold Wing without a CB. In its stead the owner had mounted a plastic engraved map of the US and used colored glass to mark the states ridden. I would venture to guess it was mounted with some type of marine sealant to prevent water penetration. Might check aftermarket sites for such an item. Or, get a piece of flat ABS, engrave something original on it before mounting.

Get a clear piece of plexi & cut it to fit.
Mount a cool color (I prefer blue-but match your bike) LED light inside and hook it to power.
Add any switches you might want to control things like driving lights, or place a volt meter there...
Clock , temperature gauge, ..anything ...

Holly cripes Batman! You can purchase the entire LH side panel with this in it on ebay; http://www.ebay.com/itm/88-00-1991-HOND ... 17&vxp=mtr. For half the price and sell the LH panel to someone else.
Another option is to purchase the plastic at a hardware store; typically where they keep plexy glass, aluminum, etc., heat it with a blow dryer and bend it ever so slightly; then cut to fit.

If all else fails contact The Engraver http://www.thengraver.com/, they make badges that mount with 2 sided tape and can get one to fit over the opening. You can get what ever you want put on it. I had this one made to cover up the hole when I mounted my Garmin
