Looking for Parts 96 GL1500SE

Postby BullCBX » Wed Apr 16, 2014 7:07 am

As the new owner of a slightly neglected 96-SE, I found a new issue and thought I would ask the collective if someone might be able to fill my need. I'm sure these are still available from mother Honda and will go that route if necessary. What I need are the rubber weather seals that belong on the back side of the headlights. When I got the bike, one of the lights was out, so last evening, I stopped and picked up some new bulbs and proceeded to install. Once I got the headlight assembly out to disconnect the wiring, first thing I noticed was the missing weather guards

On a side note, it was my hope that cleaning out the "surprise" rodent nest that filled the air box would have solved my surging idle, it has not. The bike does run a LOT better with all of the various filters changed, fresh oil and new plugs. Next task is run a few tanks of gas thru with some Techron, to get the carbs in sync, and then start looking for a vacuum leak somewhere. I'm sure it has been said many time, but the information available on this site (and others) is SO incredibly helpful. Big "thank you"s to all of those who have documented procedures.

The part number you're after is 33112-ML7-003 - it's still available from Honda, for around $11 apiece:

I had a surging problem and went all thru the vacuum hose bit and then read here on this forum a "try this first". mark where your idle screw is set then run it in and out a few times then reset it to a good idle. I did this and the surge is gone and I now have a nice 850 rpm idle. File under "nothing ventured nothing gained" .

OK Rob I'll have to give that a try. First time I heard of that one, but like you said, it's easy enough to do. Planning on checking the sync next weekend, (after running a couple of tanks of Techron thru the carbs) and will make it a point to try this as well.

Hey BullCBX,
Sry no parts for Yaz...but a bit of surge help.
I have same (fast) teal/hunter green 96 SE with only 45,000 on the odo.
My surge was the 90 degree vacuum hose under the ruber matt...under the carbs.
You didn't mention your mileage...but if you are at or above...it'd be a good bet.
Hope it helps.
WvChamp
PS: My left timing belt was a little on the loose side (original).
Good idea to replace them if haven't already.
