Where did you unplug those lights? You mean the light sockets detached from the lenses?

You can get to the connectors by removing the trunk undercover. Instructions for doing this are in the first five steps of this article: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=11395

thank you for the help, as i will try to tackle it today..also, my brakelights are still not working, the fuses check out ok(but will replace them anyway) and the two element bulbs in the top tour pack seem to be ok, i checked the connections at the front brake lever and all are good. let me ask you, there seems to be a small black box like a modulator, for maybe aftermarket braking lighst or strobes, is that stock or aftermarket to the gl1500 do you know? i heard that if that is bad, it may take out the brakelights. have you ever heard of that? i bought this bike used, but is in excellent condition minus the brakelight issues..thank you for any help and sorry for being a pain in the ass! scott

The GL1500 definitely does not have an OEM brake modulator. Where did you find the little black box?

it was under the seat, plugged in to the main harness before it goes into the large connector to the back electrics..it looks like it was one of those brakelight modulators that flashes the rear lights..it took it out and hello! working taillights and brakelights! i also found that my mirror was missing one of the three screws that attaches it to the fairing! good to go on that also! that you for the above info found out how to gewt the raer plastic off. now all i have to do is flush my brakes and clutch lines, and change oil..hope there is info on here to do that also..it takes me awhile, but i can figure things out mechanically! scott
