No start condition 1999 gold wing
I'd just filled up my bike in preparation for a ride with some friends, then click. It wouldn't restart. So now, fully geared, I've got to roll the bike away from the gas pump to clear the lane. Fortunately, one gentlemen was kind enough to give me a jump, but all I heard was click. I thanked him for his assistance as he drove away. While awaiting the arrival of road service I could hear the solenoid click when I pushed the starter button, but that was it. Well, finally, I got the bike back to the house and removed the side cover. So what was the culprit that spoiled my trip? My positive battery cable was less than a 16th of a turn too loose, meaning under load the contact was lost. Lesson learned.

It is odd that you did not notice that problem when you jumped the battery.

Hm. I wonder if I should add "check battery terminal clamps" to my spring "get bike ready" list?

I noticed one of the positive wires was wiggling when I attached the jumper cables so I tightened it with the end of my key. Apparently, that was not enough torque to get full contact. When I got back to the house and put the charger on it about 30 minutes passed before it got to 25%. I gather the connection has been loose for some time. All those light tale a lot of power, even with the high output alt and battery.

Yes, and include "clean terminals and clamps thoroughly". Sometimes the 'smoke' cannot get through the build-up, and needs a clear pathHm. I wonder if I should add "check battery terminal clamps" to my spring "get bike ready" list?
