1993 GL1500 Aspencade Jerks and stalls when putting in gear.

Hello fellow wingers. I was about to open my GW repair book to try and answer this question but thought I would post it in the meantime and see what feedback I could get from any of you.
A few nights ago I took my 93 GL1500 Aspencade for about a 10 mile ride. Everything seemed to work fine. When I returned home I got off the bike to open the garage door. When I got back on to drive it in I raised the side stand but when I tried to put it in gear it jerked forward slightly and stalled. Started the bike back up and put it in gear, this time with no issues. Went to get it out two days later and cannot get it to go into gear without the slight jerf forward and stall. I was told to check the side stand. Side stand light on dash goes off when i raise the side stand. Sprayed contact cleaner on the side stand mechanism to see if it was just dirt or oil causing a bad contact. Still stalls. No unusual noises when starting it and letting it idle. I had read something online about the clutch fluid possibly leaking out into the crankcase. I called a guy about 40 miles away that works almost exclusively on Goldwings and he never heard of that happening and not to believe everything you read online.
Do the wires going to the sidestand disconnect or are they a sealed curcuit? Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Have you done any recent maintenance to the bike? Just trying to get a feel if something you did might be a cause.

More likely a clutch hydraulic issue, first off check fluid level and condition and then master cylinder push rod and lever bushing. These problems will not allow full clutch disengagement.

If there was a side stand issue it would not cause the bike to lurch forward.

+1 on the clutch issue. Something is causing it to not disengage the clutch entirely. You might have air in your hydraulic fluid (when was the last time you flushed/bled your clutch?). You might also have an issue with your clutch lever bushing being worn out. Have a look at How to replace your clutch lever bushing for more details on this.

It appears the brake fluid in the master cylinder for the clutch is low. I am going to flush it out with new DOT4 and bleed the air out. Is that the bleeder for the clutch on the left side inside the cover near the foot peg or is that for the brakes?

That is the clutch bleeder. You might want to question your mechanic...if your clutch fluid is low, it must be leaking out somewhere... and if there are no visible leaks at the master cylinder nor anywhere along the hydraulic line, then it is quite likely to be leaking into the crankcase via the slave cylinder.
Keep the rubber side down.

Right, anytime you start losing clutch fluid, it's a problem - because it's a closed system, so if it is losing fluid, it's leaking somewhere. If you don't see an obvious leak, then it's going into the crankcase. We have another GL1500 owner here who had this problem, and the result was a destroyed engine that he had to replace.
