radio volume very low

Post by grizzlybear1943 » Mon Jun 02, 2014 11:41 pm

I purchased 1997honda goldwing SE yesterday. owner along with wife told me the radio was working fine day before. I bought and drove home trying to get volume to no avail, plus cassette player will not open. is there a hidden switch somewhere from factory or did I get screwed by these people. it sounds like the mute button stays on because you can hear music in the rear speakers but not the front. any kind of help on this matter would be helpful. thanks for all your help out in the goldwing world.
Ben

Regarding the speakers. Have you tried adjusting the fader?

Mr. ding dong
That was the 1st thing I did. went to start the goldwing this morning, did not turn over. ordered new battery, should arrive thur or fri. Since the battery was dead would that have caused the radio to put out very low volume by any chance.
Thanks for info
Ben

Very well could of. These bikes like lots of spark. I replaced mine with a AGM (glass mat) battery and haven't looked back. Well worth the xtra $$$$$$.

Cassette door opens by pushing the 'eject' button on the radio. Sound in rear and not in front sounds like a fader control problem. Mute button could be stuck in the 'mute' position (anything is possible) since it is/has been exposed to the elements. Once you get your battery and the 'bugs' worked out, you'll be another proud GW owner. Keep checking with these guys here. You have 1,000's of years combined experience with problems at your disposal that you might see one of these days. Good luck.

I had the low radio volume problem and it was because the CB was on. I turned the CB off and the stero worked fine. I Don't use the CB so I didn't look any further into it.

It may sound obvious but have you accidentally pushed in the MUTE button?
