Another MPG question

Postby Uncle Fester » Sat Jun 07, 2014 1:01 pm

I am curious if my mpg is on line with what I should expect , or do I need to adjust or repair some things to up my mpg.

In town I get about 25 mpg , 40-45 mph, start and stop driving, TRY to keep it under 3500 rpm.

Highway I get about 35 mpg, 70-75 mph , cruise on most of the time , did have a head wind on the trip I checked the highway mpg. No luggage tied to the bike, Tulsa +4 windshield, no trailer.

So, am I online or do I need to look into some repairs or up grades ?

Then I guess it is tune up time, new plugs, air cleaner, and oil change. . . See what happens after that.
Thanks.

Be sure to check for dragging brake paads..
If you have not bled the brakes in the last 2 years they may be hanging up and rubbing just a little...
OR the caliper may need cleaning or servicing or even a rebuild (mine did after 85,000 miles)
The 1500 is sensitive to drag - either mechanical or aerodynamic - causing poor fuel economy.
