Fluid coming out of hose with schrader valve in saddlebag?

Postby threewheeler » Tue Jun 17, 2014 12:31 pm

Just bought a 1993 GL 1500
there is a hose with a valve in the right saddle bag
when I put a pressure gauge on it
fluid came out of the valve?
I called the seller and he said he had never put any air
into the valve .
Could this be condensation?
:?:

Thanks In Advance

This is an outlet hose from the compressor. It is intended to be used in emergency situations to pump up a flat tire, using the onboard compressor.

The compressor is also used to pressurize the rear suspension. It's possible that oil from the rear shocks could have migrated through the compressor and out that hose - are you sure it's water, or is it oil?

the color was brownish
not sure if water or fluid
I stopped the second the fluid came out
till I find out what the fluid might be.
will check again for viscosity..

Thanks

It is an I model so no air compressor that hose goes direct to the air shock.

Oil should not come out perhaps someone overfilled the shock. I would remove shock, drain and refill with the correct amount.
This is what I do
Local and need repair help with your 1500, Valkyrie or ST please PM

Agree it is an I model.
There is an air horn attached that works.
what charges the horn
if no compressor?

Air horns have a compressor built in to them.
