Fuel filter replacement for gl1500...

Postby truckindrummer » Sun Jun 22, 2014 9:12 am

Going to change fuel filter on my 1500. Any options besides overpaying for OEM filter? I'm aware to stay away from Emgo filters, so that's not an issue. Thanks...

Cyclemax has a filter for 6 bucks that will fit in the rubber holder. Being we all seem to change filters every season I can't see you considering that overpriced. It's Nothing different than any non OEM filter you'd buy at a parts store. I pay alot more for mine because I use glass so I can see thru it and the condition.....
I looked at Wing Admin's filter cut-away of the Emgo....I ran them for several years and never had a problem.......I never saw anything disintegrate like that....pretty wild.
Take your's out and go to NAPA and they'll match something for you.

Napa filter 3011 works. It don't fit into the rubber holder, but is tight under the shelter.

I've put Randakk's resusable fuel filter on mine. I'm going to write up a review of it when I get some time. You can see it here: http://randakks.com/products/randakks-h ... uel-filter

I don't consider 6 bucks overpriced but Honda oem items are always high to me, but that's my feelings. Thx for the info guys.

The 6 buck one was aftermarket. The OEM that looked exactly the same was 15.00. Prolly made by the same company. I do agree with you on the OEM overpriced issue though...

after replacing the fuel filter, spark plugs and air filter i'm getting a popping on low end thru my exhaust on acceleration. noticed my new honda filter is only half full of fuel while motor is running, should it be full of fuel?

I've seen that issue on my bike, as well as my boat. It has no effect, as far as I am concerned. Are you sure the popping is from the exhaust ? I once had a hose directly under the air filter box get disconnected when changing the filter. It's hard to see and reattach if disconnected. But it will generate some odd noises that are usually dampened by passing through the filter box when connected properly.

Just replaced my fuel filter with a Napa 3033 gold fuel filter, it was just over $6 much cheaper than the Honda filter closer to $15. You can't use the Honda filter rubber mount piece but it sit there just fine or a zip tie will secure it real well. While your in that deep take the time to replace the air, cruise and sub filters make a nice afternoon of it. And I had the bonus rebuild the auto fuel shut off too!! Take your time, removing the tupperware is the worse part of the job IMO!!

Wingstuff.com replacement fuel filter looks just like OEM $6.99 and fit just right on mine.
