Floorboard question...

Postby tumunga » Tue Jul 08, 2014 11:24 pm

I bought some used Markland floorboards from ebay, but they didn't come with installation instructions. Have any of you guys seen these before, and do you know how they install?

I'm guessing they mount to the front, and bottom of the engine guard. The problem is when I try to mount them that way, I can't get them into what I think is the correct position on the engine guard. The board that's mounted to the plate might be mounted upside down. I don't know.

Thanks for the help!

Are they for a 1500 or a 1100? Your profile says you have a 1980 GL1100?

I looked all over, but didn't find any pictures like the ones you have. My guess...the boards with their half-moon brackets bolt into the longitudinal slots on the plates, so that their position can be adjusted forward and backward to suit the rider.

The plates themselves bolt onto the outside of the crash bars, with the brackets on behind, grabbing onto the crash bars themselves to hold the plate in place.

Just a guess based on looking at what you have.

Mounts are different than ones on my 89. Clean compression around engine bars. Been on since 89.
