That is a good price for a 99. Only you can determine the cosmetic and mechanical condition of the bike.

What's the mileage?, check the alternator for output, when were the belts last changed?, check radio, CB and all controls. But that is a good price. How are the tires? Little things check the hinges on the two rear pocket doors?, pull the side panels are all the tabs there?, try reverse and then drive.
HAD LOTS OF GOLDWING 75-83
NOW INTO 1500'S..RIDING A 1998 SE

FAIR WINDS,

I picked up a 88 gl1500.blue book $4500.Honda dealer estimate to "go through it"..$2000.and that didn't include any normal service..just needed obvious repairs.

I paid $2500 and did the work myself.
Moral of the story...a good condition bike is bound to need service.Just ask the Admin about his new "investment"
The price is ok if its in TOP condition needing just minor service(oil change)Add in a brake job, tires, timing belts,etc...the value goes down.
Before you jump on it,confirm as much as possible about its condition and common problem areas.
Check the tires for odd wear patterns.Smell the oil.listen to the engine.Test drive it if possible.
$6 grand is quite a chunk of cash to drop on anything without checking it out.
By the way..I spent another $800 in material alone to get my bike back to great condition.

I think the answer is .."Maybe"
At face value it seems like a very fair price.
As long as there are maintenance records and it runs and operates properly.
But the hidden things are always expensive...and performing ALL the maintenance that may have been deferred can cost a lot as well..
Tires for the bike are from $300 to $500 depending on your dealer or your ability
And creating a baseline of maint schedule is important -so you will be doing it all right away

BUT - if the bike is nice (and Many Goldwing are) I think the price seems reasonable.

+1 to Wingsconsin. Everything he said is absolutely true. Do plan on baseline maintenance, unless of course there are very accurate and well kept records. Even then be suspicious.

Excellent. Keep us posted. Remember, even then you will still want to at least evaluate condition of maintenance items. Even of you don't replace anything, at least eval to give you that piece of mind.
