Reverse Switch part # Needed

Postby Aladinbama » Sat May 29, 2010 9:13 pm

I've been looking for the part number for the reverse switch and can't seem to find it (a mechanic the the Honda shop tried for about an hour and couldn't either).
Please, I need to order this part. The one below and just to the left of the dipstick - it is suppose to have the little black rubber cap attached to it.

I'm *guessing* that that switch is the switch that detects whether the bike is in neutral or not, to enable the reverse. While it's not shown in the cylinder block diagram, I DO see a switch in what appears to be the same place, and orientation, and similar appearance on the gearshift fork diagram. It is listed as:

Ref 21: 35600-MM5-003 Switch, Neutral - '88 '89, All '90, SE/A '91

I see what you mean, That's as close as anyone has gotten - and it looks like the part, but ...

It's shown on the left side of the bike - but the part does look like that and I have been told it was a reverse switch - maybe it should be called the neutral sensor for reverse switch - nahh, that would make too much sense.
I'll check with "the people" at mother Honda. THANKS!

the mentioned partnumber isn't 25600-MM5-003 but 35600-MM5-003

It's shown on the right side in the diagram - notice the "FR" with the arrow pointing to the left at the left side of the diagram.

You're 100% correct - that was a typo on my part.

The switch is on the right side of the engine, and detects the position of the lockout rod when the reverse lever is moved into reverse position. (This locks the shift drum in neutral position.)
