97 GL1500 with CSC trike.squeek from rear suspension?

Postby vv0350 » Tue Aug 05, 2014 9:49 am

Howdy:
We have a 97 Gl1500 that had a Calif Sidecar trike rear added in 04…bike has 115,000 miles…65 or so on the trike parts….
In the last 6 months or so, we have noticed a consistant squeak coming, I think, from the right rear. It is very audible at 25 to 35 mph..road noise sort of takes over then…In any case, as we are going down a city road, there is a constant…squeak….squeek……….squeek..squeek……..squeeek…not rear loud but there…like a dry spot somewhere….…Occasionally, we don't hear it at all..but usually it is there..
Any Ideas ???
Hate to just take it to the Honda shop…it always $$$ more than I expect…
THANKS

My latest thought:
Most bikes have a swing arm that needs to be lubed on occasion…does the California Sidecar trike have any such thing…if so, do you have to take it apart or are there zerts… ?

Another place to look is shock bushings. If they get hard & dry, they can squeak like crazy - and most commonly over tiny bumps, rather than the big ones!
