cruise

Postby Gordwing » Tue Aug 19, 2014 11:31 am

Hello fellow wingers........my wife and I just did 8 amazing days thru south central quebec on our 92 aspencade and it was beautiful. We let my brother and his wife join us on their Harley. Yep,I know we compromised but we still had a lot of fun.
3 issues started on our first day at the same time. My speedometer, cruise and signal cancelletion all quit working. I checked the fuses and relays but they were ok. Any other input would be appreciated.

All your problems are related to the spedo quitting....Get it fixed and the rest will start working too...
Start at the front wheel spedo drive...it's on the left side....

Thank you..........I will investigate. It could be a broken cable or damaged retainer then ? I'm just curious how this would affect the signal cancellation.

Turn signals are cancled by 3 possible things..
Time elapsed.
Turning of the handlebars.(angle sensor)
Speed sensor pulses generated by the spedo.

If the cancler does not get spedo pulses,it will not self cancle. It "thinks" your setting still.

The cruise also uses these pulses to determine and maintain your speed.

Guess what Virgilmobile.......I finally had the time to remove my front wheel and found your diagnosis to be right on. The speedometer drive gear was stripped and the spiral gear was sloppy and the retainer was mush. I replaced everything and voila, everything is working again.

Thanks
