I don't have much junk in my trunk and load it at #170.
I preload on the centerstand at #35.
I'll up it #10 with the extra #120 rider.

I'm on the 3rd setting and keep about 10-12# in the air shock. I weight about 240# and ride solo. Tires set at 41 front and 41 rear.

went with the #2 setting with 25#. dropped the fork oil level (15wt) about a 1/2 inch. and tighgtened the steering bearings just a bit.

bike rides much better now

thanks guys for all your input 8-)

It is odd that this is here right now.
I have the 450 IAS on my bike and I feel like I am riding really stiff.
I tip the scales at 300# and have it set on the 2nd preset - I run 30 lbs air in the air side shock
When I ride the bike I feel every crack in the road..I considered going softer but then wondered if I need MORE preset..?
Is there a formula for setting up suspension...
I thought I was feeling every bump as my steering head bearings needed replacing...now those are done and it's not much better...
My son's bike rides much smoother with the old worn OEM shocks..I have Progressives front and the 450 rear and it rides like a dump truck...

Curious...
My 850 rides even better than my Goldwing - Stock OEM shocks set as hard as they will go and NEW Sonic springs up front.
Hmmm....
