I like to sit with my back straight up and down, with my feet just slightly forward of my hips. I also do not like to have to "reach" for the grips.. so I adjust my bars so I can ride like I want to sit on the bike, with my elbows slightly bent, with hands in riding position. Sometimes it takes a few trips to get the bars just right, as seat position is also something I may or may not goof with while I'm trying to get maximum comfort out of my riding position. Once I get it right, I know it... and I don't change anything.
I am wrong as often as I am right concerning what is wrong with someone else' motorcycle without having seen the machine in person. Guessing with limited information, as to the source of the trouble, is sketchy at best.

I agree - whatever feels right to you. Sometimes it will take months for me to adjust everything to the way I like it.
